The video explicitly states that this is acting as his confession to killing the 61-year-old and will likely put him behind bars for a long time. Cordie also explains his battle with depression, and how he went bar hopping the night of the crash on June 22.

Matthew Cordie admits that he lied, in accordance with his attorneys, but decided to come forward—with a well-produced internet video boldly titled “I killed a man.” His face is briefly blurred, while he describes his slight alcohol abuse and the night leading up to the highway crash. The scars from the accident on Cordie’s hands and arms are visible as he spells out his confession, “when I get charged, I will plead guilty and take full responsibility for everything I’ve done to Vincent and his family.”

After a while, he shows his face and urges viewers to not drink and drive, making the video sound like a public service announcement of sorts.  His victim, Vincent Canzani was an avid photographer, Navy vet, and father of two daughters. His family was not immediately available for comments.

Cordie’s lawyers were unaware of this confession, but George Breitmayer III, his representative called his action brave and full of integrity. Ron O’Brien, a local prosecutor, claimed to have watched the video three times, touched by the sincerity.

O’Brien said he received the complete police investigation Thursday, and plans on asking the grand jurors to indict Cordie on Monday for aggravated vehicular homicide. The prison sentence could be as long as eight years, maximum, and is a second-degree felony. The video, only days old, has already been viewed nearly 200,000 times.
